Closing Day Crested Butte

This weekend the riches ended and my powder streak ran dry.  But it was still a heck of a lot of fun, with a new resort checked off my list.

We drove to Crested Butte Friday night, leaving Denver about midnight and arriving close to 5AM.  Luckily I was able to sleep most of the way.  Monarch Pass was particularly sketchy, it was literally impossible to see more than 20 feet in front of the car.

It was sunny and gorgeous for closing weekend.  I made it down the Butte (Skier’s right of Bannana Funnel), but that was bulletproof.  I snowboarded and Telemarked, including my first double black diamonds on Tele’s off the North Face T-Bar.  S C A R Y.

Had a good time watching Basketball Saturday at the Pub of Crested Butte, where apparently they don’t pay their heating bill.  Other than that it is a very cool place.

Got back to Denver late Sunday night and was up at 5AM to head to DC.  Arrived safely for a couple days of Real Estae Technology.

Here is a good pictorial summary of closing day at CB.  We saw the Mullet Guy in the Paradise lift line and wondered if it was real or to be funny.  That is some dedication!
